Virus stopping me using IE

My cousin was on Facebook and apparantly got a virus. I have run the Kaspersky antivius and it says

detected: Riskware invader - Running Process: C:\Documents and settings\family\Local settings\Temp\{E016B9C0-5860-4511-9E50-5CD3D74B10C4}\setup.exe.

If I open IE it just sends me a message saying it has encountered a problem and needs to close, cannot do a system restore. I have tried running a system restore in safe mode and still cannot do it. It freezes and I have to hold the power switch to turn it off. I cannot update anything as cannot get on the net. followed your 8 steps, see attached logs, obviously cannot do the Java update.

I would be grateful for any help you can give.

Hello Doowy...
If that is your full HJT log, then it looks like problems to me... I have never seem one terminate after the list of processes like that.
SO... seeing that you are running Kaspersky (Yes it is a good AV, just not what you need for the steps)... uninstall it, and install Avira. You must have some internet connection in order to get here... so, dl all of the 8 step tools from this computer, and burn to a cd... You will want to d/l the updates too, if you can... Once back at the infected computer, copy to the desktop and prepare to install. If you cannot install or run, you may need to go to safe mode to do it.

Let us know how it is going, and someone here (lotsa good folk) will be better able to help you as you work through the 8 steps.

Wow that database was a long time ago, we are up to Version 2046 now, and I just updated after about 2 weeks old database and it was still around Version 2000, so yours must be over a month old.

I agree with B00kWyrm, try Avira, update Malwarebytes and run the scans again

Ok bear with me on this as it may take a while.

Meanwhile I have uninstalled IE and installed Firefox and the net is up and running but when turning the pc on it keeps looping rather than coming on.
