MCP61PM-GM

Problem being that serial is put out by Acer, Gateway, and ECS. All three boards appear to be AM2 not AM3 which GhostRhyder found.

EMachines MCP61PM-GM AM3 support?
Hello,
I've been wanting to upgrade my processor for a while now, and I was wondering if my current motherboard, the eMachines MCP61PM-GM (which has an AM2 socket) would be able to support an AM3 processor with a BIOS update.
I also have this same computer, bought at walmart. I just downloaded cpu-z and it shows mine as having an AM3 235e chip and ddr2 memory. My board also says rev:2.4. The first 2 memory slots are purple and the other two are orange. I have never seen a picture of this exact board. I know the board is made by ECS. The bios is AMI version P01-A1 dated 09/15/2009. The 250u chip used in the later models are ultra low power like 25watts. Hope this helps.
It seems newer revision numbers will be AM3, while older ones are AM2.

Thats what I found, I just looked up which number the CPU was which was the regor chip and it said it was an AM3. So the motherboard that is inside these machines should support up to an 95watt CPU when I read the online what people were saying at least so I would assume deneb is fine but I guess to play it safe the Phenom I series could be a safe bet.

According to this forums the board was revised for AM3 CPU support.

Ahh, I didn't look up the CPU. That would suggest they have the newer motherboard revision which supports AM3. Still I'd feel better about suggesting a CPU if the OP could open the case and list the details found on the motherboard. After this short conversation and research, I'm tempted to say it is an ECS with at least 2.4 revision number.

It's support : Supports AMD AM2 Socket K8 Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64, Athlon FX, and Sempron processors under 89 watt power consumption
