What is the best laptop for 2 grands?

hello guys, i really need some help
am on the market for a new laptop, i wanna get the best that around $2000 can get
I've never had a laptop before, so any help or advice will be appreciated

probably am gonna use it for gaming and maybe media center ..

am kinda between Sony Vaio and Alienware .. havent decided on the model
but I heard that vaio has some issues with batteries,

so any thoughts ?
