WIN98SE installs my Radeon 9550SE twice - any advice pls?

  1. Evening, all.

I was just wondering if someone might be able to help me out with this problem. My Club3D Radeon 9550SE 128MB graphics card is being installed twice by WIN98SE (on an MSI 6561 mobo with an Athlon XP2100+ CPU and 256MB of PC2100 RAM). It shows up in the system part of the control panel as:

    Radeon 9550SE
    Radeon 9550SE secondary.

When I remove the secondary from the hardware lists (under the system section of the control panel), Windows just re-detects and re-installs it the next time I boot up.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

    cheers, Jon.

There's nothing wrong. Your graphics card has two outputs and you can potentially connect two monitors at once. One of the outputs is the secondary. That's why it shows up twice.

Oooohhh yeah... I feel clueless, although I do at least have the excuse of never having owned a card with two outputs before.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

    Cheers, Jon.
