Windows firewall Help please

i cant seem to turn off windows firewall is there a way through dos to turn it off?

When i normal way i get
"Due to an unidetified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings"

im trying to enable file sharing on my computer and this is stopping my computer from getting on the network if anyone can help it be very much appreciated

If your using XP SP2 there`s a fix here - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess.htm

Use Zone Alarm or Sygate as your main Firewall.
