windows xp setup

during windows xp installation setup my pc stops responding.. or hangs.. what could be the problem?pls help

More info would be nice.

System Specs? Also, at what point during the setup does it fail? And by "hangs".. is it just sitting there or does the screen go blank, etc.etc.
