Hi guys,

I was just wondering, is it possible to work as a software engineer in the Film Industry, particulary big productions, Hollywood etc?

We often see at the end of movies, cast and credits, many IT people that work as part of the film making process.

It would be great to work in the movies. Is there anyone here who knows about this. Anyone you know that works in the film industry. Becoming a celebrity is difficult, but hey maybe one could potentially work as as software developer.

If such as thing is possible, what would the entry requirements be, would it be more difficult? What perks would such a job have, would one have entry to the premieres of the movie that they worked on? Would they have the oppurtunity to meet the celebs in of the movie that they were part of?

Regards,

Mike

For some time, Silicon Graphics, Inc(SGI) in the San Fransisco area was THE dominant player in this area.
Dream Works has made big inroads to the field. You will need both
a degree and significant experience to hit the big time, so lower you expectations,
pay your dues and then move up.

Typically, these are graphic editing and production jobs, but there are always
Information Technology requirements for the infrastructures, eg Data Base, Networking, system management ...
