TBH, I couldn‘t care less which console you buy and why. Not trying to be rude, I simply don‘t care.It has nothing to do with "attitude" or "cults", it's called common sense. I'm not shelling out $500 for a console for no added benefit. I can play all cross-platform games on the PS4, but I can't play TLOU on the Xbox, so obviously, I got myself the PS4 and not the Xbox One. It's not the cross-platform titles that make you pick one or the other, it's the exclusives that do. So according to Phil, the same exact thing will happen when next-gen hits the stores, I'll go Sony.
Is this concept really that hard to grasp? Or will you at least answer the original question regarding my motivation to buy an Xbox?
Now, if there is a must have game that‘s only available on one platform, I could see why someone would get that platform but I feel it‘s a forced purchase reason and this I don‘t like.
For me, a reason to spend $500-600 on one of the next gen consoles would be the hassle free way to play games with high quality for much less than I‘d have to spend on a PC to play at the same quality.
For the PS5, a next gen VR implementation could be a reason to get it. I really liked PSVR on the PS4.
For the next gen XBox, the promised backwards compatibility could be a reason to get it.
For me, features and services are great differentiators to make me buy one or the other or even both, but a company buying studios or paying them to gave exclusives is not. That‘s just me though, your mileage may vary.
As for exclusives - again, if there is a super awesome one of a kind game I would understand, but my time is limited and there are so many interesting games, if I cannot play one I will play another. Heck, have some games that I did not even properly play yet, so what do I care about exclusives.
