XP explorer and 2 USB flash drives

I have XP home on a HP laptop(dv4017AP). I can use one USB flash and the os picks it up and registers the drive, however the second USB flash I insert gets recognised and assigned a drive letter (I can see and use it a cmd box) but does not show in Explorer. The drive letter is not dual assigned as far as I can see and it does work inside a CMD box. Any ideas as to what I can do to get Explorer to di its job?

Install MS TweakUI from the Powertoys.
Under the Explorer-tab you can then 'activate' the missing drive-letters.
