XP will not install some programs

Not sure why, but certian programs won't install on one of my units (they load fine on two others (same OS) -- not weird software at all --

Have had a problem with IOMEGA backup program / A highschool yearbook program we are using at our school --- other programs (like Acrobat/ Office etc all installed without a problem) -- but these simply won't respond. No error message - double click on set up file .... nothing.
Have also tried copying the program disk onto desktop but that didn't help ---
any ideas anyone?

Are you using different firewalls or security/antispyware software on the troubled system, than are installed on the good systems?

I noticed that there is some AOL scanning software running (only) on this unit -- might that affect it ---

RESOLVED -- turned off "MAGIC HAT" AOL router manager
