For those who were hoping for a beta of Novell's new Linux desktop at the LinuxWorld tradeshow, you will be disappointed. However, the company has promised that it will demo the Linux desktop in its booth and will be looking for consumer reactions.

For a long time, two main Linux desktops have existed - KDE and Gnome. Opinions are very divided as to which is better and why. Novell have decided not to bother picking one and have instead decided to create their own desktop, which is a blend of the best features of both.

This isn't a code merger - that would be an almost impossible task, given that both desktops are built using very different technologies. Instead, its more like a mixing of the ideas and "feel" of both.
