Using the power of broadband and the higher capacities offered by Blu-ray, a next generation DVD would be much more interactive, and could grow and update itself, manufacturers hope.
Say, for example, you buy a DVD of the Spiderman movie. It comes with a trailer for the sequel. As more trailers and other information are available on the sequel, the consumer could have more content downloaded and burned to the DVD automatically, via a next generation DVD player or PC.
Interactive and adaptive content seems to be the future for DVD, in a world where even the internet and television may soon merge into something new.
