After some speculation that it might not be going ahead, Microsoft have confirmed that their next server software release, a Windows server code-named "R2" will be going forward after all.

"R2" was set to contain all sorts of high tech goodies, including a Network Access Protection feature that allows corporate networks to quarantine machines re-entering the network. Now it looks like that particular feature will be delayed until 2007 when Cisco Systems will be able to jointly support it. Indeed, its anyone's guess what we will and won't see in R2.
