The huge and historical merger between Hewlett-Packard and rival Compaq Computer (which started three years ago) has finally been completed, it has been revealed today. HP have confirmed that they have finished the huge transition, and now want to refocus on delivering to customers using their established strategies, and to work towards growth of the new, merged firm.

"Fundamentally, we've completed the transition of our operating model and have now arrived at the place we wanted to be. It's really about leveraging the portfolio we've built for leadership in the markets we serve. We know that we're at a point where we have the right products to compete in the right markets."

There is some suggestion that HP will be making layoffs some time in the near future, and that the company will be looking to hire some new workers and retrain other employees in order to maximize its staffing. A main focus of the company remains in inventing new technologies.
