According to a survey of the Game Initiative, by 2010 advertising in games will be an industry worth $1 billion, and the amount of said advertising will grow by 760 percent over the next five years. Yes, it seems that games publishers have finally decided that the best way to make even more money from games is to load them up with adverts. Well, isn't that great.

According to a survey that was conducted by the Game Initiative during the recent Advertising in Games Forum, it will be a substantial revenue source that quickly grows from year to year. The gaming industry currently grosses about $120 million a year through such advertising, however, industry experts and executives believe this number to grow to $800 million by 2009 and pass $1 billion in 2010. The total market volume is expected to hit more than $2.5 billion a few years thereafter.
