Dual core is such a fascinating subject to watch and very exciting to be able to use on a desktop level. Many, however, don't know much about dual core. Not that they need to. If you want a little bit of history on what dual core is, though, TechWeb has some. The article, if a bit condescending, talks about IBM introducing dual core originally in 2001, the merit behind the introduction of dual core into the market, future expandability and much more. One good point the article brings up is the motivation for offering single-package SMP being largely due to speed constraints, as the technology for increasing clock speed isn't increasing as fast as the demand for more clock speed is. If you want to know more about dual core, it's worth a read.
