Bad news for supporters of the HD DVD camp in the next generation DVD format war - when the first HD DVD players arrive in stores this month, it will be another three weeks at least before there are movie titles available to use with the players.

Warner Home Video said Thursday that it has pushed back the release dates of its initial slate of high-definition DVD titles from March 28 to April 18. The studio also has scaled back its launch to just three titles: "Million Dollar Baby," "The Phantom of the Opera" and "The Last Samurai."
The delay appears to have been caused by technical issues; the new format includes new copy protection, new compression, new codecs, and Warner Home Video want to make sure that everything goes according to plan.
