Google is ready to update their advertising scheme with the addition of something unbelievably common in other media, but not seen that often on the Internet: Video ads. To start with, Google will allow other companies to run commercials on sites which they sell advertising for. Google won't be using this on their services pages proper yet, but that may change based upon how effective it proves to be. With the advent of broadband, video ads are actually feasible. Then again, how are people going to react to a search engine that blasts them with full blown commercials every time they do a search? That may be to the extreme, but it's a tough market and Google now has investors to please. Let's hope they stay grounded.
