The UK has received Nintendo's Wii very well, it seems, with the console setting a record for console sales that was recently owned by the Xbox 360. Selling a total of 105,000 units over the weekend and 50,000 units in the first 12 hours, Nintendo has bested Microsoft in the UK by around 35,000. This apparently does not take into account all pre-orders, which theoretically could increase that 105,000 figure.

This comes just a few days after Nintendo retracts their statement of a million Wiis by the end of the year. It seems no matter what the console, the biggest issue across the board remains supply. The Wii launched much later in the U.K. than in other countries, and yet supply was still relatively low, meaning that they are probably churning the consoles out as fast as they can.
