Apple has posted its third quarter financial results with a very positive margin after Macintosh computer sales broke records and iPhone sales met estimates. Apple's net income for the quarter was $818 million, compared with $472 million a year earlier. Revenue was $5.41 billion, up 24 percent from $4.37 billion a year earlier.

The company is enjoying very healthy sales all around. Apple sold over 1.7 million Macs in the quarter, with its MacBook laptops models accounting for almost two third of its computer sales. The iPod keeps selling like hot cakes and is up 21% from last year numbers. Although the iPhone was only available during the last two days of this financial quarter, it has reportedly sold over 200,000 units so far, with about a million expected to be sold by the end of the year.
