While many are predicting curtains for Yahoo, the infamous search company is still working hard to compete and has recently unveiled another tool to add to their search capabilities. Today, Yahoo announced a new mobile search strategy, abandoning their existing model of searching solely for links to other sites.

The new model called "OneSearch 2.0" was revealed during the CTIA Wireless trade show in Las Vegas. As for what it means, the search methodology itself is now more of a meta-search, offering instant information access. Yahoo is also adding voice searching, which probably has a lot of potential for mobile applications. As you may know, not everybody is super comfortable typing words using a cell phone keyboard.

If Yahoo wants to get a stronger foothold in the market and wants to continue fending off Microsoft, this is probably the perfect avenue for them as there's tremendous growth foreseen in the mobile market.
