Although Gigabyte happens to be one of Asus' largest assets, the company doesn't seem to be worried about jeopardizing the Eee PC's position in the low-cost ultra-portable market. What began as an announcement just a few months ago is now apparently preparing for launch. Gigabyte expects their Intel Atom powered M912 laptop to be ready before the end of June.
Using in-house Gigabyte engineering, the company hopes to keep costs at a very competitive level. Undoubtedly, they will still have a tough time competing with Asus, along with the plethora of other companies that are making their rounds in the relatively new market of cheap laptops.
