Vodafone had quite an announcement to make today after it won a contract to sell Apple's iPhone in 10 of its markets around the globe. Although not in any market the iPhone is already available, Vodafone has said it will sell the iPhone in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa, and Turkey.

The company did not specify a release date stating only that the phones would be available "later this year." Also expected to debut later this year is a new 3G-enabled version of the iPhone, with the latest rumors claiming that Austria would serve as a test market for the device. Considering the new launches being announced overseas coupled with the fact that the current EDGE-capable iPhone has not been as successful as anticipated in Europe, a 3G iPhone announcement for those markets could indeed be just around the corner.
