Opera Mini chosen for new handsetBy Justin Mann
Opera is getting a viewership boost thanks to a recent partnership with a handset provider in India, who has decided to use Opera Mini as a stock browser for a new device. The Blink X511, manufactured by Micromax, will come with Opera Mini preinstalled and as the default browser, adding on to the reported 14.5 million Opera Mini users. India is certainly a quickly growing market for web connectivity, and Opera is certainly happy to have the Blink.
Mobile web usage has definitely grown rapidly in the past four years, and according to Opera there are roughly 3.2 billion page views a month using the mobile variety of their browsers. On a mobile phone, though, I really don't want to know what browser I'm using - I want it to be quick and unobtrusive. If you've never used Opera Mini before and have a PDA, it's at least worth a try.
