VMWare joins the Linux FoundationBy Justin Mann
TechSpot is celebrating its 25th anniversary. TechSpot means tech analysis and advice you can trust.
VMWare is expanding their support for Linux with their recent announcement that they will be joining the Linux foundation. Alongside industry tops like IBM and Google, VMWare will be working to provide more tools for the open-source community and expanding their offerings and support therein.
VMWare has been offering Linux products for a long time, but now it seems their intention will be on pushing more standard approaches to virtualization. The greatly increased competition from Sun through VirtualBox, Cisco through Xen, and Microsoft through Virtual Server, has given them a wake up call that virtualization is no longer the niche it once was.
