Samsung's Galaxy Note line may soon gain some competition from rival handset maker LG. An unannounced smartphone called the LG G3 Stylus appearing at the end of an unusual three-minute promotional clip for the LG G3 Beat (a mid-tier version of the flagship G3) looks to be a direct competitor to the Note.

Based on its brief cameo in the Beat promo, the phone looks virtually identical to the G3 except that it comes with a stylus. One could argue that the Stylus is a tad bit larger than the G3 - perhaps at 5.7-inches versus the 5.5-inch display on the flagship - but that's pure speculation at this point.

The mystery phablet would give those wanting a large screen smartphone with a stylus yet another option to choose from. While a stylus certainly isn't for everyone, it can be an invaluable tool for artists, students and other working professionals.

Samsung is expected to debut its next generation Galaxy Note at a press event just ahead of the annual IFA trade show in Berlin early next month. With the G3 Stylus, LG is now in a position to potentially steal some of Samsung's thunder from the Note 4 announcement.

The only question is, should LG go ahead and announce the phone now or wait until the trade show to go head-to-head with Samsung? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
