Prey, a reimagining of the 2006 favorite by the same name that draws inspiration from classics such as System Shock and adopts gameplay elements from favorites like Metroid, is one of the most anticipated games of 2017.

The first-person shooter will put players in control of protagonist Morgan Yu as he attempts to fend off an alien race aboard the Talos 1 space station. Rather than simply having to rely on guns alone, Yu can apparently adopt supernatural abilities from the Typhon alien foes including the unique ability to mimic ordinary objects found aboard the space station.

Ever wondered what life as a banana would be like? Fancy reincarnation as a roll of toilet paper? In Prey, you'll be able to live out those pointless fascinations and others.

Morphing into a lamp or a picture frame may seem silly but in actuality, doing so will assist players in accessing new areas and solving puzzles. For a glimpse of what that sort of tomfoolery will look like, check out the Mimic Madness trailer from Bethesda embedded above.

Prey is scheduled to drop on May 5 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
