Razer Edge

The Razer Edge has many good parts and it works well as a complete package, yet it really struggles to warrant its existence when there are so many better options on the market.

The Razer Edge shines as a top Android-based gaming handheld thanks to its strong local and cloud performance.

While the Edge is functional enough, if you own a newer smartphone, you could simply buy a controller accessory instead. The Razer Edge doesn't excel in any one area for me, and that's why I'd like to see the overall idea pushed further. Whether Razer and Qualcomm will choose to do that remains to be seen.

Sure, the Razer Edge is a good device for playing native Android games, but it fails when it comes to streaming games, as very few titles fit the screen. For me, $400 is too much to spend on a device that doesn't feel fleshed out, especially when the software lacks the typical features of a gaming phone. So I'm left wanting much more from the device between the odd screen choice, the aggressively rounded corners, the fan that can't be controlled, and the lack of local screen recording software.
