The Lenovo Legion Go is a solid handheld gaming PC, packing top-tier specs with great controllers and an awesomely sharp display to match. These qualities come at an expensive cost, though, which is made harder to swallow given how some design choices get in the way of a smooth user experience.

Lenovo's Legion Go is an impressive first crack at a handheld PC game console. The large QHD screen impresses, but many of its unique features ultimately hold it back from must-buy status.

Lenovo has tried. It's made Windows slightly less cumbersome. The trackpad, FPS mode, and detachable controllers are all genuine value-adds. If you’re willing to fiddle with settings and deal with UI jank, the Legion Go is probably the best Windows option right now. But if you want something that just works, get a Switch or Steam Deck.

The sturdy kickstand is a welcome addition, but the high resolution won't work for all games, and a software learning curve makes it much more complicated than the Nintendo Switch it sort of emulates.

Lenovo's answer to the Steam Deck is a better product all around, though its higher price point and gimmicky controllers may ward off some potential customers.
