Despite occasional pacing issues and some luck-based setbacks, Mewgenics stands out as a defining indie title with a distinct voice and vision.

These stars may align on your 100th run, or your 1,000th, or never. According to the save screen, after 60 hours, I’ve seen less than a third of what this game has to offer. Mewgenics is built to fill every moment you’re willing to give it.

Mewgenics is best enjoyed as a marathon, not a sprint. Due to the sheer volume of content—with no clear end in sight aside from “collect all the achievements” and unlock all the stuff—Mewgenics can feel overwhelming right out of the gate.

Mewgenics is an eclectic, strategy-filled experience. I’ve never played a game that combines cat breeding with tactical, turn-based battles like this. It was worth the wait!
