NASCAR Heat 4 still has its issues, but Monster Games’ long overdue overhaul finally makes this the game that the series has always tried to be.
NASCAR Heat 4 gets it right with properly replicating NASCAR and the racing is the best the series has seen. The AI does a wonderful job of not ruining the experience and is a better opponent than people online. The Career Mode continues to be deep. About the only knock the game has is that there is no major new mode but the advancements are enough.
The series' latest from developer Monster Games makes some tweaks to improve the on-the-track experience.
It will take a much longer time than the week I’ve had with NASCAR Heat 4 to see how much I’m able to grow, as a driver, within these new parameters. I feel like the structure is still there, however, for a game that will challenge a player’s strengths and minimize the effects of their weaknesses, much in the way that the F1 or MLB The Show series both accommodate and push me. NASCAR Heat 4 may not look different, at first, but it doesn’t take long before I can feel just how much better it has become.
