BM: Supreme Commander, S.T.A.L.K.E.R

For the first time we find the Radeon HD 3870 outperforming not just the GeForce 8800 GT, but also the 8800 GTX and in a reasonably convincing fashion as well. With AA/AF settings disabled the Radeon HD 3870 managed 43.8fps on average at 1920x1200. This gave the Radeon HD 3870 an impressive 31% performance gain over the GeForce 8800 GT.

Should we say further driver optimizations for the other games, please? We said please!

Even with the 4xAA enabled the Radeon HD 3870 was still able to keep the GeForce 8800 GT at bay, defeating it at all three resolutions. Though now that 31% performance margin has been reduced to just 7% still in favor of the Radeon HD 3870.

The Radeon HD 3870 is far less impressive in S.T.A.L.K.E.R, rendering just 67.9fps at 1920x1200, whereas the GeForce 8800 GT managed 91.4fps! This meant that the Radeon HD 3870 was 26% slower at 1920x1200 when compared to the GeForce 8800 GT in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
