Who has already bought the game, or plans on purchasing it in the future? Let me hear some of your thoughts and comments on the game. I will probably post some screen shots and some of my random thoughts and complaints about the game. :)

I have been rather busy lately and haven't had too much time to play Quake 4. Don't worry, I will most likely rack up some playing time over the weekend. :)

Picked it up yesterday at BestBuy, that said the PC here has a S3 graphics card so I've not even tried it yet, will have to wait til I get home.

Really want to pick this up - but can't get clearance just yet for a new $50 game while we still have things we want for our daughter.

50 dollars? US dollars? thats a lot of money for a game! I have read some crappy reviews about it and what not... if i were you LNCPapa i would download and try it before you go and spend that much money on a so called crappy game (from other peeps on another forum)

not really considering the amount of programming involved. Heck I remember in the old days when Atari 2600 cartridges were selling new for $39 to $49 dollars.

And on top of that I'm a huge Carmack fan - I love his work though Doom 3 didn't live up to my hopes. I didn't think it was horrible though, just not as good as I wanted it to be. It should've at least been better than Half-Life 2 :( but it wasn't. I'll be buying it - just not today.

Q4 impressions

Just started playing F.E.A.R. this week, then Quake 4 arrives...

Just like HL2, the intro uses in game (Doom3) engine & drops you in on the action in a couple of minutes.
You arrive in a battlefield with loads of comrades - think the HL2 coast scene where you meet with rebels in farm type buildings, they give you the rocket launcher, you have to join them to shoot down those flying seals. That's the level of action you start off at!

I liked the feeling of working in a team (unlike FEAR where you are a lone wolf most of the time).
However, probably still has 40% "go and do this job - on your own soldier" gameplay. 10-20% "escort this chap" missions.
The graphics look REALLY nice on a 6600GT - worth getting for showing that off.

Everything Doom3 should have been. Gets my recommendation.

Arrgh, I brought this home to Ireland only to find CD2 was damaged somehow during the trip. I managed to install in an awkward way, time to try some local shops to exchange my broken disk... hopefully.

This game looks really really good. The visuals are rite up there with any other top notch game for this generation. They utilize the doom 3 engine better than the people at id with a mixture of outdoor and indoor environments. The gameplay just like doom is very linear usually boiling down to go talk to sumone, escort this person, open the locked door and dull stuff like that. The action is intense with a number of different strogg enemies to attack you that have their own move sets.

This game is like doom 3.5 so if you liked doom then you will like this, gone are the closet monsters from doom and this series seems to be more action oriented but there is nothing innovative or revolutionary about this game.

The multiplayer is the standard deathmatch stuff you find in most games and nothing to write home about but quake fans of old will feel rite at home with this game. It really is just quake 3 with the doom 3 engine coating on it.

All in all worth checking out if you have the money otherwise pass this one up till it gets to be cheaper. I didnt notice any bugs or problems in my computer while playing the game so this game seems to be pretty stable and should not cause any problems for anyone who buys it.

Is there a Quake 4 demo out yet? Im not buying the game until I can play a demo first. I made that mistake with Doom 3.

Nope there is no quake 4 demo that i am aware of rite now. But if you didnt like doom 3 then more than likely quake 4 is not your cup of tea.
