also can u take a look at this

my mother board (i know it sucks :p) and tell me if a pci 16x slot is the yellow slot on the left not the far left white one http://img.product.pchome.net/00/10/78/48/107848.jpg

many thanks guys :)

Hi Monk
the gts 250 is a re branded 9800GTX, so if they are the same price you want the 250.
the PCIE slot is the yellow one the white one is a pci slot

wikid red thanks again mate so the 250 is a gtx version of the 9800 not the gt version rebranded i think ill get that one then been tough deciding due to mixed info on the cards and im sure in store they will tell me the most expensive one is better

its the yellow one my current g card is in is that also where i should install the new one the 250 from those links

its like 2 am here now the store the links to is open till 4 pm tomoz so if i can make a decicion and make sure it will fit my mother a shown above im gonna get the 250 gts tomoz just wanna be sure it will fit the yellow slot on ym mother board

pretty sure that with the card upgrade ill have a very decent machine for around 6 - 700 dollars 500 uk pounds including my upgrades it will be intel 3 xeon dual pro 2.5htz 4 gb ram 320 gb hard drive 250 gts card :) (hopefully if it fits)

my main worry is unplugging current card intalling new one and it not working lol as my machine is ok now just as red knows sucky g card

but red is the yellow or white slot the pcie slot that that 250 will fit ,
just make sure for me lol
i want it to fit the slot
it will deffo fit in case i have a 9500 with massive passive heat sink that it will replace thats in the yellow slot
( again is that the slot i should insert the 250 gts above

whats the model number of your board?

the yellow slot is what you are going to put the 250 in

G31MV/G31MV-K if u put it in google image it comes up with that link i posted above thats the one i have in my machine looking at it as ive added ram allready to the spare slot

Okay, since your really worried about it lol, here you go(see attachment):D

lol thanks mate ive just read some horror stories about machines just not turning back on ect also been told i have agp slot and a pcie and pci slot ;) i knew it couldnt be all three

that's why i looked it up, i kinda thought you thought you had a AGP slot there. BTW over here the ATI HD 4850 is the same price as the GTS 250, and it performs better. I don't know if your set on Nvidia or not. Just another option :). just remember to plug in the 6 pin connector and it will be cracking! LOL couldn't resist

good idea im gonna have to disconnect one so i would have probably noticed lol but thanks any way lol
u had to do it for the first time once too lol i just dont want my machine to blow and i was told the slot lower than the yellow one is the pcie slot so i thought my current card must be in a agp slot but thanks m8 ill hopefully install it tomorow and hopefully all will go smoothly wish me luck lol

ok now i know u said it as a joke red (pmsl) but my current card has no cables coming out of it at all just plugs into my mother board i have 3 cable ends in machine that are hooked up to psu
2 the same about an inch wide the connecter and one very small half inch wide
which would be the one i use and one of the 2 wider ones ?

damn i have only 4 pins in all the cables so i guess psu sucks too thanks any way all been in vain it seems

I think the card should have a 6 pin connector with it inside the box, even if your PSU doesn't.
