Hello. I've spent about two days reading threads here about malware removal and I am seriously impressed with the detailed instructions and knowledge. I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me in similar fashion. I am working on my neighbor's boss' laptop as a helpful service. Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) had locked up the laptop to the point where the desktop would not properly display any icons, multiple error messages would appear indicating that Symantec was not happy, and nothing functions based on Windows Explorer would function. I uninstalled SEP and installed Avast, which cleared up the initial problem, but Avast discovered that the 3 trojans/malware indicated in the subject line are present. I went through the "UPDATED 5-step Viruses/Spyware/Malware Preliminary Removal Instructions" (I have all of those logs and will paste them after this initial post), but I don't know whether that fixed the problem or just was a good thing to do in preparation for a formal malware Spanish Inquisition. The laptop runs Windows XP Pro SP3. I'm not sure what additional information you need, but I'm happy to provide anything that would be helpful.
