OnLive has announced that it has partnered with 2K Games and Gearbox Software to bring Duke Nukem Forever to the OnLive Game Service. It will arrive at 12:01 AM (EDT) on June 14, 2011, coinciding with the scheduled North American launch date of the title.

Furthermore, every customer who preorders the game will receive a coupon redeemable for an OnLive Game System ($100 value) or one free OnLive game. So if you want to try OnLive, you should probably choose between Duke Nukem Forever or Red Faction: Armageddon.

"The satirical and action-packed gameplay of the Duke Nukem brand makes it a fantastic fit for next-level, easy-access gaming on the OnLive service," John Spinale, OnLive VP of Games & Media, said in a statement. "Members can laugh, taunt and quote Duke-isms in real-time as they battle alien invaders stealing Earth's women. This title is all about laugh-out-loud, engaging action -- and we're excited to bring the 'King of all shooters' to our members."

Gamers have waited over a decade to play the official sequel to Duke Nukem. The title was originally announced by 3D Realms in 1997. The project experienced all types of problems, however, and it was passed over to Triptych Games and Gearbox Software in 2009, with multiplayer components provided by Piranha Games.

Half a year ago, Gearbox confirmed that development on the title was being completed. Given how long the game had been in such a state (some 14 years), there were still many skeptics. Then the game was demoed live, but many would still not believe.

Four months ago, the game was given a set of release dates: May 3, 2011 in North America and May 6, 2011 in the rest of the world. Two months ago, this was pushed back to June 14 in North America, and on June 10 in the rest of the world.

Earlier this month, the official PC requirements were released. If you're going with the OnLive option though, they don't apply to you.

Cool, let us know when you get it.

onlive service is appealing with the free system and coupon offer with purchases. but data caps are its enemy! that and my PC!

You usually get the coupon for the free console after the game releases.

This game is going to suck bigtime. If ever a game had any ear marks of sucking this game has them all. And no DirectX 11? We pc gamers need to show publishers we expect quality games or we wont buy! I still do not own any console port with a asking price of over $25 (including COD Black Ops). Paid $14 for BF2BC and still rocking with an extra $40 in my pocket from not buying $60 failures. But....this is just my opinion.
