Error Caused by a Device Driver

Run memtest. Your MB memory could be flakey. I had problems with my old computer rebooting. Turns out the base memory is crapping out.

Hi guys, I'm totally a newbie when it comes to computer technology, so I need a little help. Thanks in advance!

So, I have a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error shown n the BSOD. I believe I'm the firs one in this thread to have this error. Anyway, here's the zip. I need help. :(

Thanks in advance!

And the other set of zip

Bookerman,

4 of your minidumps crashed at NVTcp with offset address 262c. NVTcp.sys is the nVidia ethernet card driver. Goto nVidia Web Page and search the solution. You can open a call at nVidia if you NIC is still under warranty.

Debug report of your minidumps
BugCheck 100000D1, {38, 2, 1, aae5862c}
Probably caused by : NVTcp.sys ( NVTcp+262c )

Right, I decided to try fixing myself. So, here's what I found out, its the NAM thats causing the trouble. So, I have removed the NAM, and now I'm downloading nForce4 Standalone Kit (6.53) from the site and I'm trying to update the bios of my Asus A8N SLI NForce4, but damn, I tried Asus's update, but it couldn't connect. :suspiciou

Any ideas to get my bios updated? :p

Alright, a update. The NAM refuse to remove itself from the add/remove programs. But the data for it has already gone. NAM doesn't work at all, except the firewall tray. Why? Confused.

Everything's alright now. Just that I can't get the bios updated.

what i found out is that nividia's firewall and NAM thats causing the ethernet driver problem. So, I removed them. And updating of bios is just what i wanna do myself, not related.

I wouldn' t use an onboard firewall. Use zonealarm. At least you can see what it is letting or not letting in or out. Zonealarm is "smart" and will learn while you train it.

Help me please!!!!!

Hello, i am also having the problem where my computer keeps restarting itself, i have now disabled the automatic restart function thanks to this article, but havnt seen th BSOD yet.

This problem usually occurs when i run a system scan with Norton Antivirus 2005, or when playing games (Call of Duty : Uninted Offensive), i have tried updating my drivers and this dosnt seen to help, when using the error reporting function in XP it says "Error Caused By A Device Driver" it but dosn't specify which one.

I would really appreciate anyones help on this error, its driving me crazy, sorry if this is getting anyone to repeat themselves, but i really need the help!

My system specs:-

XP Pro SP2
AMD 1.40Ghz
512MB of RAM
ASUS Radeon 9200se 128mb graphics card

I also have a tv card installed that has given me trouble before, but i seem to hav sorted that out.

Thanks in advance

Thanks tedster, i have metest on a boot floppy, and have run it once before, do i have to wait untill it says it has done, or will it go on a continuous cycle unitll i stop it?

Now i get BSOD

In my first post i said i hadnt got the BSOD, seems like i spoke to soon, i just had to restart and i got this information....

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

*** STOP : 0x0000000A (0xFECEF5C0, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804FEC2D9)

i also got this minidump....

Run it for at least 7 passes. If you get a problem, remove all memory sticks except one.
Then run a test on that one. If that passes, swap out sticks. retest.
If that passes, then go back to one stick and move to the next slot. Restest.
swap sticks, repeat. That way you are testing both the sticks and the slots.

My old computer recently developed a bad memory slot.
Each stick would test ok, but when all 3 were combined, they tested bad.
Turned out my slot 3 went bad on the motherboard.
If that is the case, you have two choices, get another motherboard, or increase your stick size and avoid that slot.

if you just have bad memory, replace it.

Thanks tedster....ill try it later today, what about the Stop Error on the BSOD, is this the same thing or sumat different?

a lot of stop errors can be caused by bad memory.
I developed a similar error when one of my memory slots went bad.

Of course the stop error could be something else as well.

weather? I hope it doesn't rain on you!!! hahahahaha

good luck - let memtest run for a while. overnight if possible. The longer the better, but at least 7 passes

bigger memory will take longer processing

lol....ok i need some help on how to run memtest....

first i just let i boot up and it ran fro two passes and it didnt seem to find anything, the i pressed "C" on my keybpard to look at the config and changed the Memory Sizeing from "STD" to "ALL"....

It then went on to find thousands of errors......i dnt kno if i should have changed it though....

Should i just have let it run in STD mode, but left it for longer?

Help appreciated tedster....(or anyone)

don't change the default configuration.
Let it run for 7 passes or more.

Then if no faults, your memory is ok
If you have faults, remove all memory sticks except the first stick in the first slot
test it.
then move that stick to the second slot, test it in that slot
then 3rd.... etc....
if that stick and slots are good,
then swap with second stick of memory
test the second stick by itself.
move to next slot.... etc...

after you test all sticks, you'll know which stick or slot is bad.

A bad slot can be avoided on a motherboard, but cannot be replaced.
The only solution for a bad slot is increase your stick sizes and avoid the slot or replace the motherboard
a bad stick can just be replaced

always purchase the same types of memory and sizes/speed to avoid problems.

DDR memory should be bought in pairs (for example: two 512MB sticks instead of ONE 1 gig stick), the motherboard will use the bandwidth of two sticks instead of one and run faster.

only purchase memory from manufactuers known to be compatible with your motherboard. RTFM!

don't buy cheapo memory, you get what you pay for (i.e. 3rd party no-name brands)

Ok tedster i let it run for a bit and let it go through 11 times, it didnt report any errors, but when i started windows it said that an error was caused by cap7134.sys, i looked into this and this is used by my tv tuner, its the MEDION one on the list.....

i cnt seem to find any updated drivers for it though and dont kno how else to sort it out, could you give me any advice?
