Ok, I ran the installer & it went well. I guess I'll re launch Google Earth & see if it behaves in DirectX. Thank you.
    So far pretty good,thank you.
I also discovered where to change the font size/type.
I just have to slow down & learn, thanks.:)

I decided to try Secunia PSI & it was @ 98%. My Videolan was out dated so I updated it & I had a singular update of the attached
    Secunia updates.jpg
So I updated it & now it shows multiple ones. What is going on.? Am getting very confused.
Not to mention, after I rebooted, I see a white X in a red circle on the speaker icon in the notification area yet I still have sound. I'm very confused.
"EDIT" the red circle white x is now gone.

Dxdiag.exe is what you want to run.

What does running dxdiag.exe tell you?

    Edit:
Have you chosen to turn Windows Aero off?

NEVER place application data in the \Program Files area.
First, you would have to change the permissions to make that work, but in doing so, would also make it easier for a virus
    to succeed.

    • Rule 1: user data always goes into the user area %userprofile% which is in the \user\{yourLoginId}
    • Rule 2: only applications install into \Program files or \Program files (x86)
    • Rule3: only the system stores or modifies \Windows\*
    • Rule4: ALWAY login to a UAC account
    • You will be much happier and all those zeros and ones on your disk will thank you.

I copy/pasted dxdiag.exe in the search program files area & the above screen shot is what showed up.
I don't know if Windows Aero is off or on.

    Ok, thanks.

Thats only searching for the dxdiag.exe. Click on dxdiag.exe and run the program for a report of directx functionality.

If Windows Aero was turned on your window borders would be translucent. I can tell by your screenshot that Windows Aero is not enabled. I was wondering if you had chosen to disable Aero for some reason.

Thanks for explaining that. I was wondering why my FF wasn't like other W7 pc's I've seen.
When you say Click on dxdiag.exe and run program, where do I go to do such
Is this what you're looking for?

Click on the display tab and see the notes section at the bottom, if there are problems, it should report those there. I've never encounter errors w/ either mine or my parents' computer so I don't know how specific those error messages will be.

I just tried to use google earth again & got a similiar pop up like in post #23. I was only able to get a glimpse of it before it vanished.
I'm really angry at myself for screwing it up when I tried to change the font. If I knew what I did, I'd reverse it.

Do you have these on your computer? You can check by going to Control Panel > Programs & Features. Not definite, but if you're missing something then maybe try downloading it from MS and see whether that fixes your problem.
