Plowing ahead with Bulldozer

Last night I had the friend that I sold the Phenom II 965BE run a recode from Mpeg-2 to AVC (mp4) on a rather challenging 2.5 hour video stream. Complete with all audio tracks and available subtitles tt took the 965BE 39 minutes to complete compared to 20 on the FX8120. More typical video streams are running 13-15 minutes on Bulldozer versus 20-25 on the 1100T which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Good thing, since for better or worse I'll be running this processor for a while.

Wow, in some cases the 8120 is almost cutting the time in half. That is impressive.

I knew it! I told you all that Bulldozer was king!!:haha::haha::rolleyes:

...anyway, back on earth. Mine just showed up. going to give the Silver Arrow a workout. I will call Gigabyte a call again about the LLC P.

Right on, looking for nothing less than 5GHz with all that Gigabyte support at your disposal :):p Actually, think I can get 4.8GHz out of mine with some work but not as eager to blow it up as I was yesterday.

I will give it a go...but I suspect unless I put it under with a bespoke WC'ing system, my shop will become a mini game of STALKER. :)

All attempts to stabilize at 4.8GHz have been futile so it looks like my final overclock for the FX8120 is going to be 4.7GHz. Since it has been possible to accomplish this with power management enabled I'll be able to run this for my 24/7 overclock. You'll notice in the first screenshot the drop in vCore and multiplier in CpuZ when there is no load on the processor, really helps keep the temperatures in check.

Just for reference have included the Windows Experience Index for each processor.
