    Hello All,

shifted to ubuntu on recommend, love it a first sight. runs fine from the demo. install can't seem to format new WD hard disk.

Prior problem was same with HP Pavilion dx6000. no longer interested in fixing HP. Would like to ubuntu.

I've got a 160 G western digital drive. Is there software available to override HP propritary of Hard Drive?

download GParted and format the entire drive beforehand then run the ubuntu install again and when you get to the formatting part set the partitions up as you wish.

gparted is included with Ubuntu - so you could boot up the install CD and run it live to use gparted.

As LNC has stated.. Just use gparted in a Ubuntu live session. :)

    I've struck this B4...

In the BIOS, there's a setting to turn RAID off - I know, it doesn't even have raid, but turn it off & away it goes.
