UK government wants to block all Internet porn

  1. The UK government has plans to ask ISPs to block all pornography from home Internet connections by default, in order to ensure that children are not accidentally exposed to sex while using the Internet. Under the plan, customers would have to ask their ISP for access to pornography. Homeowners would either specify which adult sites they want to be able to view, or pick a classification for their connection to restrict what is received according to age ranges, such as U, 12, or 18.

Never going to happen. I know it sounds silly but I'd be too embarrassed to call my ISP asking to access porn. Though maybe they're hoping people will be afraid to.

  3. 1.) Great idea.

2.) Expensive? Last time I checked OpenDNS was free. What's the difference?

3.) The internet will def. not self-regulate. Someone needs to start this ball. This isn't internet censorship either; it's just protecting the young pubic.

This should end well. Guess it's really too much to ask for parents to monitor their computer usage. Let's have the government do it for them.

Protecting the "Young Pubic", While Upholding the Ideals of The Miss America Purgent"

    He said barfingly.
I say we should regulate the internet against guest posts containing bad, unintentional puns such as, "young pubic"..!

Nah, it's not too much. but while you're inside tweaking the settings on your internet filters, they're out playing stinky finger in the backseat of the car you just lent them.

Will never happen, besides, its easy enough to get around anyway. One of the only good things this country has is a completely open, un-restricted internet.

If it comes to it, I'll ask for full rights regardless of who uses my connection. If I want to view porn, extremist sites and learn how to build a bomb online I will, I pay for the sodding connection. :haha:

The dongles in the UK have already got it anyway...They always come with, Access Denied on any address remotely involving the letter "X"

It's lucky for porn surfers though because that lock screws around with certain java apps, so it's a good excuse to get them to take it off... :D

Heh heh...Ahhh, i think this is gunna be a hot topic pretty quickly...Either that or "closed" quickly.

    Your connection is restricted?

I've never had one single page refused by my ISP, Virgin Media.

Not from me, its sort of following the same subject as per the title.... :haha:

Indeed! Boy have I got a Hong Kong wire movie for you. It's playing in a double feature with "1984".
What exactly is a "dongol"? I'm getting an image of Genghis Khan, running around with his zipper down.

2 out of Three Ain't Bad.......
Would you be willing to settle for a skank with a pipe, even if they didn't make a bomb out of it....?

Yeah but is that a dongle?..Over the wires ISP's don't restrict (at least i don't think so), but most Dongle's now come with this "Content Control" lock...I had it both with Vodafone and O2. It can be removed by producing ID at a local store, but it's sort of a "Hat and Shades" thing :)

Jeez, thanks for that thought Cap..I'm eating my tea here man :D .
Nah, it's a cell phone sort of device that plugs into a laptop or pc and gives you the web over 3G networks.

Nor in all likelyhood, will you ever have to tell your children about it

So it's not like, "The Dongol Hoards of Genghis Khan"?

Technically though, I think you mean, "dongle"

I have a T-Mobile dongle, and that is unrestricted as well? Unless they just never activated the content lock because it was for me, which is possible I guess. All my phones/mobile broadband are ordered over the phone and delivered next day. Could never be bothered to **** around in the shop. :haha:
