What does your desktop look like?

agissi, I only have a Sony display, my computer was custom made for me by MicronPC who are now known as MPC. Check them out here.

As for putting my shortcuts in a folder, it is a good idea, but the chances are that I will never get used to it; which is the only reason my desktop is the way it is :( .

lol, point proven. Didnt think about that

I forgive you. To be honest, I am both surprised and delighted that a person of your tender years knows as much as you do. Keep learning and I think when you reach my age, you will be the computer scientist I should be.

If you notice, all the icons that I placed on the desktop are shortcuts; there isn't an actual folder or file there! My main hard drive is split into two partitions. The first partition, the C drive, is partitioned to be just small enough to fit a Windows installation. The other partition, the D drive, is the rest of the hard drive. The reason for this is because I want to be able to format my computer and not have to worry about backing up data; its all safely on the other partition. I actually got the idea to set it up like this from the old 3D Spotlight forums. I think it was Phantasm talking about how he had his Linux and Windows installations set up.

Phant, whats all the coding stuff I see alot in your screen shots? I know its like Linux stuff, but do you have to type it all in to do stuff? I thought it was kinda what it also looks like in your screenies, with the explorer type file that you run, so its like windows, and go from there.

Thanks for the compliment btw :) "You will be the computer scientist I should be" - rotf...

Heres another shot:

That's the BASH prompt. BASH means Bourne Again Shell. Its a command prompt with well over 200 odd commands. Some of what you see if stuff I have typed in, some more of it was the standard output or standard error generated when I issued a command, still more was when I got the command prompt to list the contents of a text file. There are lots of text files in linux which are config files or scripts. You can write scripts of BASH shell commands, etc.

Here's my new setup for my Mac - I'm buzzin' pretty good so this may be messed up

Sorry guys - I couldn't help but update this screenshot - thought it would be a waste to make a new post for it though. Look at me being nice to the bandwidth impaired - won't last long.

Yes sir I still do! I play Tenebrae on the PC side - and I play glQuake on the Mac side - it's one of the 7 games we have on this platform :(

Sorry, but thats pretty sad to only have 7 games support mac. Why in the world do you have that mac anyways? :dead: :dead: :dead:

You can't measure a computer's usefulness in terms of how great it is with games. We want to buy a high performance cluster at work, and it doesn't play games it all. However, it perhaps a very large number of floating point calculations per second.

Macs have their uses, just as Windows and Linux PCs do. Don't rubbish a platform because you don't know anything about it. Macs are very strong in some areas.

I barely play games right now. Linux supports probably even less games than Mac. But its useful for so many other reasons. Many operating systems are good for a variety of reasons.

Here's mine...

Hehe, thanks...
I take pride in my desktop appearance... i have to look at it a lot.. why not style it up, you know?
And man, i can't stand messy computers... just being on a messy computer, no matter what the speed of the processor, makes it feel like ****... you know? Files all over the place, not defragged, programs not being used takin up space and RAM... such a waste sometimes...

Here's a VNC screen cap of my other G4 Mac

Remember - this was capped through VNC hence the Windows frame.
