dont get an import. get an old domestic car. like a camaro, nova, chevelle, mustang, torino, charger, dart, baracuda. something like that. any of those would be a good muscle car that would make any import crap itself.
poertner, what year is your car? you going to put a new vette engine in or a rebuilt 350?

It is a '55, and I have already got the '87 Vette underbody attached to the frame, and it has been modified to accept the '55 frame as well as the engine mounts for the '87. It was kind of a pain to get setup, but it is coming together nicely now. Just waiting on some more funds to keep it going.

you see, my frend is getting his dad's '80 vette and says it will waste any rice rocket i would get. i jus wanna see the sad look on his face when my import wastes his vette that has 2x more cylinders and displacement. <g>

i misunderstood your last post when i posted before thats why i have to edit. hah. what engine will be in your rocket and how much horse power and ft. lbs. of torque do you think you will be getting out of it? and at what rpm?

by the looks of what has been posted here, i look forward to getting a 94-01 acura integra with a b18(?) motor. i also wanna do a jdm headlight conversion, jdm integra look so much nicer that those round headlights. i also like the mr-s, the look just like a porsche and from what i have read brakes 60-0 in 99 feet <g>. btw my other frend is getting his family's toyota previa, so even IF i get wasted by the vette i will rest assured it will be faster than a prev.

You ought to get a Prelude...much better car...but besides that..You are such a poser...A friend of mine posts to this site, and you used his same avatar and his same signature....copycat

My thinking as well, though kids these days like those cute little imports for some reason.

First car I built myself was a '73 El Camino with a 400 small block and a munsi 4 speed. I currently have an '85 Mustang with a 351W thats been built almost to perfection(400+ horsepower) and an '86 Camaro I'm currently restoring. Just dropped a spanking new 305HO in it.

    lol,
I'm sorry Stormbringer, give me a supercharged accord, turboed prelude...anything but a domestic car...too big and bulky..too heavy...I like nice and light imports...One of my favorites is the new Subaru WRX..thats sweet.... Sorry man, detroit muscle is gone, stop living in the past....

And no, a stupid camaro isnt going to make an import crap itself, it may crap on the camaro as it flies by...I've seen a Honda Civic with 700+ WHP...that would take nearly any of that OLD stuff you guys are trying to convince people the buy... And I've seen many honda accord's with well over 400+ horsepower, with 5 and 6 speed manuals w/LSD's, and being as light as they are, far outperform those old monsters.... hehehe...dont mean to start a ruccus...but long live imports :grinthumb

OH and somekid, if you get wasted by that old hunk of clunk, it will be a good motivation to start tuning your new honda when you get it... here's a good site to look at http://www.honda-acura.net/

    One of my favorite websites

Vassil, the Mustang I mentioned with 400 HP, is without a SC, if I were to add a supercharger, I'd have trouble keeping it on the ground.

BTW, I don't have a problem with imports, but I find your rude comments somewhat offensive personally, and it is a slap in the face of the tradition of the american musclecar.

I am done with this thread now, as I can see you have no interest other than starting a flamewar over this, while I was just trying to show that imports are not the only cars capable of awesome power.
  15. vassil3427 Newcomer, in training Posts: 822

Well just talking about raw power, the Honda S2000 has a 240HP 4 cyl. engine, and the one that comes in the 2004 models are understated, actually putting out around 270Hp, all from a little 4 cyl... I'd like to see any domestic companies match that... Sorry to sound rash, but you and snowman started beating up on imports...and that just aint happenin...
  16. StormBringer Newcomer, in training Posts: 2,871

Please tell me where I bashed an import. I believe the most I did was call them "cute"

You need to pay attention to what other people say and stop reading things into it.
  17. poertner_1274 secroF laicepS topShceT Posts: 4,745

Ok, ok......Imports can become fast with all the rice you may need to add to them, and yes they are light, but like Storm has said, there is nothing that can replace true muscle. I have seen countless muscle cars that have had well over 1000HP (to the ground), and that is for about the same price you would pay for souping up an import. All it takes is a little knowledge and dedication and you can have an old muscle up and running faster than an import anyday.

Oh yeah and vassil, what is wrong with people having their opinions about imports? That is why they are called opinions, they don't mean anything more than that. So when you say "and that just aint happenin" why not? You can state facts as well as the rest of us, there is no need to get bitter and start going at the person. Just present more facts about the topic and leave it at that.

wrx and sti are nice. as is evo8. bit pricey
  19. snowman Newcomer, in training Posts: 312

i just prefer having 300 horses at 3,000 rpm than 300 hp at 300,000 rpm. :D but now these days they measure horse power from the flywheel. that adds more than from measuring from the drive wheels. i will admit that some imports look nice if you dont have a jumbo wing or ugly graphics on the side.
  20. vassil3427 Newcomer, in training Posts: 822

Ok, when they have those ugly wings and oversized wheels and junk, thats called RICE..lol...toooo much rice..way too much rice..I'm not into the whole fake trash from the fast and furious that got everyone into this ghetto ricer attitude...

And come on man, high rpm's feel great, the S2000 hits peak HP at 240hp/8700 rpms... redlines at 9000 rpms...hehe..yeah all vehicles these days are rated at the flywheel..only a dyno test tells the true HP at the wheels...

nope...no "spinna's" for me.. no monster wings...an NO cheap walmart chrome hubcaps....:D
