the only american cars i like are the "eleanor" shelby gt500 and hummer h1 but they are too rich for my blood base at $78,000 and $106, 000 respectively. i might consider and old school mustang mach 1 if i can find one at a good price (they are rare here in canada)

Don't get me wrong. You can go for a turbo or super set up and you can beat alot of the V8's. When I get my next car, my license plate will say: I8AV8

i saw a commercial the other day introducing the new chevorlet epica (the colbalt in the us i believe). what first struck me is "hey that looks just like the toyota camry!!!" does anyone kno if it is another one of gm's japanese import clones, like the vibe (matrix), metro(old swift) , prizm(old corolla), or tracker(vitara)??

A Hummer stickers at over 100K but they don't see at that price. Current leftover 2003s sell around high 70s to low 80s. New 2004s once they get to the dealers probably will sell around high 80 low 90s.

At one point Hummer prices were so low that a local dealer sold a one year old left over with ~3000 test miles at 30,000 off sticker at 60K.

The Hummer isn't designed for speed. You'll bust the driveline if you put a high horsepower engine in it.

Maybe this car isn't in your price range, but I've just got to tell you about it.

My Acura needed reapirs/maint so I took it to the Acura dealer. Turns out, they were too lazy to clarify the warranty policy. They sent me back to where I bought my car, to my first Aunt's dealership (yeah how cool she owns a car dealership--make that two!). She owns a Volskwagen dealership, and just opened up a Subaru dealership next door! Yay!

So I drop my car off there, and I ask my cousin (works there) to let me get a rental car. He says sure. I ask him for a Subaru WRX STi. "Done." So I'm so excited. I get in, drive away. That subaru is like the coolest, funnest car I ever drove. It has so much horsepower and standard turbo. It's a rental car and I've been power sliding and occasional drifts with it! It's sooooo fun!

Just had to share my experience.

some of you keep saying about a tuned up 4cyl could beat an 8cyl. you talking stock v8? you mod a 4cyl, and mod an 8cyl the same way i think the v8 would win. just an opinion.

i agree xtr, my cousin owned a wrx for a while before he wrecked it. very nice car. VERY nice.

After watching some WRC clips and seeing what Richard Burns can do with his WRX, it's my favorite car now. And I hate you and am extremely jealous :D
It's ok though. It's gonna be the next car I buy (possibly when I'm 18-20) when my truck gives way.

PML! Here in the UK, I get 13 litres exactly for the princely sum of £10.

That's just short of 3 gallons.

at a rough guess of 1.5$ to the pound, that's $4.95 a gallon!

OH, and to boot. I'm in my first year driving.

I have a 957cc Citroen AX, the cheapest insurance availiable is £860 a year for third party, fire and theft. Thats £85 a month!

You guys have it lucky in the US with your cars! lol

that is sweet. you must be lucky to have an aunt with a dealership, hook me up. j/k. lately i stumbled upon the ford contour svt. alot of reviews says it handles on par with the bmw 3 series and audi a4, but i find it hard to believe. however, i can found it for around $10,000 CAD, and it looks really nice. my mom has a normal contour and she enjoys driving it a lot. so im gonna look into that.

I've been in one of those Contour SVT's before, they're ok, I'd still recommend a Prelude or an Integra...Much better Cars in my opinion...built better...IMO:D

yah i like the integra alot but in canada they run twice as much as the svt. and thats for like the ls model. i still have 9 months till i get my learners and with the new bs graduated learning system i will take about 2 years to get my license, so i still have a couple years to think about it. i was expecting to be able to get a license 6 months after i get my learners, but because too many dumasses in my province street race i have to take the blow as well and do the graduated licensing program. <<sigh>> btw, can anyone confirm or deny the handling sources report on the svt?? i find hard to believe a ford could handle like a beemer, let alone a front drive one.

Hey if you're still looking into modding a Honda/Acura go to www.honda-acura.net . Great website for that type of stuff....

not really expensive, the volvo has no need to be maintained - and my message was: a good car doesn't need any modding... :grinthumb the other volvos are a little bit more expensive, the one saying »r« has 300hp and a computer-steered chassis (actualising position 500 times / second) with fabulous 6-gear-manual!!
picture attached: it's swedish, saying to modd a volvo is like putting make-up on a pig.

    best regards

Hehe....Volvos used to be brick like in the 80s and the early 90s. They are starting to appeal to me a bit lately.
