What'd you buy yourself today?

I hear you slh - not sure how I'm gonna get it installed myself just yet. Hope my glass desk doesn't present a new hurdle. Ranger, I'm going to use it for Dirt 3 (which I haven't really played much of yet), GRID, maybe some of the NFS games, the driving parts of RAGE if it's easy to swap between, and maybe Burnout Paradise. I might even use it for some GT5 on my PS3 and hopefully this doesn't suck me into wanting to do the iRacing thing like so many of my irl buddies do - except they all race irl as well.

Got another 7970, saw a great price on ebay (£170) so picked it up:
Sorry for the bad pics, was in too much of a rush to install it in my system so just used the phone camera :)

Oddly, I still haven't bought anything tech-related. I had a mouse RMAed a couple months back haha. I'll probably grab a new video card and SSD toward the holiday season. However, I picked this up last week after eyeballing it for over a year (it's a Ruger SP101 with various customizations):

Ruger is top notch. I just purchased a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T430. My 8 year old Toshiba just wasn't cutting it anymore. :)

Well I broke down and made an impulse purchase this morning. I ordered myself a Yamakasi Catleap q270 2b Extreme - Overclock Edition. Might be just about time to get a third 680 to get the full benefit of this monitor.

Cool, let us know how that monitor overclocks.
One of the things I have against it though is that it's very glossy... wish they also did matte or semi-glossy versions.

Will do, but it might be a couple of weeks before the thing even shows up - and I actually prefer the glossy since I use it in a room with no sunlight.

If you ever come home from surgery and you're still a bit high off the goodies they gave you, don't get on the computer:

I don't even have anything to cut or sand. Anyway, this showed up on my doorstep today.

I seriously thought this was going to read "If you ever come home from surgery and they haven't done a good job, come to me and I'll fix you with my Dremel". :D

Clevo P150EM based laptop with GTX680M and i7 3740QM.
Holy crap! I bet that thing is crazy fast and a decent mobile gaming machine. I've love to see some of the more common benches run on that rig Arris.

Also, since I have never used and don't yet know how to use my new Dremel kit I doubt you would want me to do any work for or on you with it. ;)

Just seen that the company have started stocking the 370EM (Crossfire/SLi). If I ordered it with 3610QM instead of 3740QM and 2x7970M it would be about £100 more than the single 680M unit I should take delivery of today. I've avoided the 7970M as it has some pretty bad problems with Enduro powersaving tech and under-utilisation of the GPU, but with crossfire it can't be used so this would be an absolute beast!!! Although I wanted a 15.6" more portable size so I'll just be happy.

Most benchmarks put the GTX680M on par with a desktop GTX670. Which is a huge upgrade from my current laptop with a i5 520M and AMD 5650M... I'll be happy enough.

I'm sure I'll have a few test results to post once I've run it through it's paces.

Maybe you can Dremel me a bay for a mobo change to add crossfire/SLI support to my new laptop :p

This one here's my baby. The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, the latest thing I bought myself a month ago. Can't avoid eating in front of my desktop.

@Platinerd_XL The glossy bezel makes my eye twitch. My girlfriend uses the XArmor U9BL and I could be wrong, but I think I read that it uses the same guts as the BlackWidow Ultimate (that is, the internals of both boards are derived from an iOne design).

Yeah I think the BW Ultimate Stealth edition looks better with the matte finish (and collects less fingerprints and dust) but MX Browns just don't have the same awesome level of tactile feedback as the Blues on the original BW.

Agreed, browns aren't as enjoyable to use. They feel mushy compared to blues in my opinion, but I can understand why many like them.

I never heard of Ione Technology before, though they sound like an AsRock, only manufactures peripherals which is influenced by big-shot competitors, let alone Razer. Not worried with the matte finish getting smudged, because I got a cleaning kit for this. Plus the backlight is just a temporary aberration, makes me look like a blind I***t with a gun. :D

I just bought the last of my first build. i5-3570k - CM 212+ - Windows 7. Kind of itching to get this done. Been a long time wanting a solid gaming PC. I lied I still need a video card, but the HD 4000 integrated graphics along with Left 4 Dead and even my PS3 will keep me busy till then :)
