New features: With IntelliType Pro 8.0, setup automatically detects your
keyboard model. If you have more than one keyboard attached to your computer,
each keyboard model can have different settings. PS/2 devices are no longer
supported in IntelliType Pro 8.0.
Installation and Setup Issues
Your Microsoft keyboard and mouse will work with basic functionality prior to
installing the IntelliType Pro and IntelliPoint software. Installing the
software is required for full functionality.
When you install the software, the "unable to install a required
component" message appears
When you install the IntelliType Pro software, you may receive a message
saying that Setup was unable to install a required component. If Setup is unable
to install the following components, follow the relevant instructions:
MSXML. On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\MSXML folder, open the
folder for your processor type (32-bit or 64-bit), and then run the MSI
The MSXML update patch. On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\MSXML
folder, open the folder for your processor type (32-bit or 64-bit), and then
run the EXE file.
Windows Application Error Reporting. On the installation CD, go to the
Prereq\Watson folder, open the folder for your processor type (32-bit or
64-bit), and then run the MSI file.
Windows Installer. On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\WindowsInstaller3.1v2\x86
folder, and then run the EXE file.

During Setup, you may have to restart your computer one or more times.
Logging on as a member of the Guests group during the Setup process may result

If you already have keyboard software installed on your computer, you may be
unable to install IntelliType Pro until you remove the existing keyboard
software. Some computer manufacturers preinstall keyboard software that is
appropriate for the keyboard that came with the computer.
I installed a new version of IntelliType Pro over an earlier version of
IntelliType Pro software and lost some customization
If you are using a previous version of IntelliType Pro software and you
install a new version of IntelliType Pro, you may lose some customizations, such
as key reassignments. To fix this problem, you may have to update your keyboard
customizations after you install IntelliType Pro.
I received the “There is insufficient free hard disk space to install the
IntelliType Pro software” error message
You may receive the "insufficient hard disk space" error message for a
variety of reasons. For detailed troubleshooting information about this issue,

Hardware Configuration Issues
The keyboard does not appear in Devices and Printers in Windows 7
If you connect a keyboard using a switch box, the keyboard might not be
displayed in Devices and Printers in Windows 7.
Try plugging the keyboard directly into the computer.
Opening LegalInformation.chm causes an error
If you try to open LegalInformation.chm, you get an error “There is not
enough memory available for this task. Quit one or more programs to increase
available memory, and then try again.” To view the legal information contained
in LegalInformation.chm, open iphelp.chm first and then click Legal Information
in the table of contents.
