Vongo movie service to get Mac support?

Vongo, a digital video subscription and download service, could be made Mac-compatible soon, a Vongo executive has told Macworld. This presumes, though, a change of direction for Apple as regards their digital rights management, but it’s likely to be on the cards.

For about $10 per month, subscribers to Vongo will be able to watch and download more than 1,000 movies and other content licensed by Starz Entertainment Group (SEG), the premium cable television network behind channels including Starz and Encore. The service also provides streaming television, access to extreme sports video and music concerts as well.
A check of the Vongo website tells visitors that Vongo is currently PC based, but will soon be Mac compatible.

WOW. Power to mac users.if they use the Quicktime software this could only mean excellent quality, and for pro users the option to save the movie. This definately a mark of things to come.

This seems like a bunch of hot air blown to get media attention (kind of like ATI's x1000 series video cards).

"As it turns out, 'soon' may be pretty far away, if the current state of affairs is any indication."

It would be great for mac users to get more availability, at least somewhat up to par with the rest of the world (the PC). This could be especially pertinent for mac users who use macs for video editing or in the movie industry.

I downloaded the Vongo just to see what it was like. It seemed ok especially compare to all the other failures in the movie download market. But they dont list prices anywhere that i could see. Any company that has to hide its price always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. To be fair its still in beta. As for Vongo being apple compatible i think it has to be in order to surive. Only apple so far has brought portable video to the masses. Plus the whole movie internet download had many false starts since the dot com era. Lets see how vongo will do.

We'll see but this may be the beginning of something. Unfortnatly, many people will still download and pirate. At least Vongo are trying.
