Samsung unveils first retail Origami device
Samsung announced today the launch and availability of the ultra-mobile PC, the Q1. Based on Microsoft's Origami concept, the Q1 falls somewhere in-between PDAs and a laptop, sporting a 7-inch touchscreen and running Windows XP Tablet Edition.
It sells for $1099 and ships with a 900 MHz Celeron M processor, 512 MB of DDR2 RAM, a 40GB hard drive and a 7-inch screen. It has two USB ports, built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but no optical drive.
The device is supposed to be available now through online retailer CDW, and Best Buy in the coming weeks. Perhaps the biggest dissapointment comes in the pricing department, at $1099 it goes well beyond the initial target of $599 to $999 for 'Origami' devices. PC World has some on-hands impressions.

issue for an actual UMPC, but at $1100, you could get a
lightweight laptop for that price.

underlowered, and limited in scope. Maybe in hospitals and the battleield....but I think for everyday use the damn thing is best holding down the paper on my desk.
