Man sentenced to 6 years in jail for pirating software
For a Florida man, bootlegging didn't pay, as he now will begin serving a 6 year jail term for his actions in selling pirated software. For years, Danny Ferrer sold pirated copies of software online from companies like Adobe, and it was quite profitable enough for him. He earned enough to purchase things like airplanes and boats, sports cars and even an ambulance. Maybe now he wishes he'd kept a lower profile. On top of being forced to part with all those things and serving a 6 year jail sentence, he also has to pay back $4.1 Million to the companies that he pirated from. Ouch.
All this occurred over a 3 year period starting in 2002, until an FBI investigation resulted in him being arrested and the site being shut down.

surprised he didnt high tail it out of the country as soon
as he had a good chunk of change. Rather than buy airplanes and what not, I'd have stockpiled it and bought a house in australia or some place that is decently in the swing of things yet obscure enough to hide in for the rest of my days. Of course, I'd never be stupid enough to try and make a profit through stealing in the first place.

[link] Wow, that guy really did it up. Fighter aircraft simulators? Seriously.
