Macs with Blu-ray coming soon
Apple is gearing up to release Macs with Blu-drives, Apple insider, in a move that would make a lot of sense considering they are member of the Blu-ray association. While PCs showed a much earlier adoption for HD drives than Macs, it doesn't mean Apple is necessarily late to the game – HD DVD and Blu-ray are still nowhere near widespread enough to make it difficult to jump into the market.
Some claim they might go neutral, if only to appease their customers. In that fashion, we might see a combo drive available on their units. That would make a lot of sense, but it seems unlikely that they would lend any support to a competing format. The article cites the Mac Pro workstations as the first candidates for Blu-ray inclusion, even though the primary target for most Blu-ray is for those interested in home theater.
There is no official word from Apple just yet.

They already have them - it's called a black screen of death. It's even better, as if, because it doesn't give you any usefull information and the only option is to restart. Next time my mac does it I'll post a pic. |
